Spay Me! Clinic

Notify Spay Me! or your regular veterinarian if any of the following occurs:

• Loss of appetite for more than two days
• Refusal to drink water for more than one day
• Depression, lethargy, weakness or pain
• Vomiting after the first 24 hours following surgery
• Diarrhea for more than 24 hours

Diet

• Feed small amount in the evening after surgery.
• Feed regular diet in the morning after surgery.

Activity

• Restrict exercise for dogs – no running, jumping 10-14 days.
• High-energy dogs should be leash walked and kenneled.

Incision

• Watch incision for swelling, redness or drainage. Apply nothing to the incision.
• Do not allow excessive licking at the incision
• Suture material is absorbable. It is buried and will dissolve.
• Keep the incision, and your pet, clean and dry.
• We give a small green tattoo to each animal after it has been spayed/neutered.  This tattoo is located on the incison site, except for male cats where it is located on the abdomen.  The tattoo is a precaution just in case there is any question your animal is fixed, the tattoo is proof.

Pain

• Your pet has been medicated for pain.
• Do not give your pet any over the counter pain medicine.  It is neither necessary nor safe for your pet.
• If you feel that your pet is exceptionally prone to painfulness, you can purchase 3 days of pain medication to take home. 

Feral Cats

• Must be kept confined at indoor temperatures (60 to 70 degrees F) for 48 hours before being re-released.
• Be sure that they are eating and drinking before release.

 If you suspect your animal is prone to licking, you can purchase an e-collar from Spay Me! clinic.  Please remember that Spay Me! is not responsible for any complications that arise due to your pet licking at their incision site.

If you feel your animal may be experiencing difficulty after surgery, re-checks are available and can be scheduled by calling 608.834.2700 or emailing spaymeclinic@yahoo.com

There may be an additional charge for re-checks, medications, etc.   

Animals must be dropped off and picked up during regular business hours.
